Syndication and the Single Robot

Hey, LiveGerbils- It's time to play "Newspaper Syndication Update Bingo!"

Lots of info and a request for you to lend a hand in exchange for a small bribe! If you were ever going to do me a favor or link something for me, this would be the one. (Pretty please)

Long story short: We're totally set for a viable launch of DS in papers. There's a chance to take viable and make it AWESOME with a little word of mouth and some surprising vacancies happening in the paper comics world.

I'm posting this link here first for your thoughts and later to the front of my site.

I have a good question!

Who at the paper would one write to? I'll write one to whoever I must at the Montreal Gazette. The new comics they've added are complete shit, and I'd like to see something good!

Concur. I'm still reading them out of habit, but it'd be nice to have something in there that actually makes me laugh once in a while.

I also have a good question!

Are emails as valid as letters? Coz I'm bad at the whole snail mail thing, but I'll do it if I gotta.

I will write to the Contra Costa Times AND the San Jose Mercury News (hometown newspaper, collegetown newspaper). They both run Foxtrot and FBOFW, so perhaps there is hope despite the fact that they are both subpar newspapers!

I'm on vacation, so I can't do anything right this instant, but I plan on writing to the San Jose Mercury News (my current paper) and the Rocky Mountain News (my old paper) to sing your praises. You will surely get copies of said letters.

I'm so psyched for DS in papers!

yeah so I got an update from Comics.com today and it said you were coming soon. Which is good, since I don't get a paper but have a paid sub to comics.com.

Looking forward to more (or will it be the same?) DS.

You better believe it'll be more. Batman willing, I'm doing my regular web comic AND newspaper strips with these characters. (the latter available on comics.com, then later on my site)

Letter to paper

Didn't they already have a great boilerplate letter written up over at Fleen.com that we could send out to papers?

I procrastinated, but I really should send out a letter to my local paper (Omaha World Herald).

I'd love to see them pick up good strips like Diesel Sweeties, Get Fuzzy and Liberty Meadows.

I'm doubting they will however. Newspapers only run unfunny comics, I swear.

You know, TO is second only to Seattle, WA in percentage of DS readers.

New York is only like #3 or 4!

tomorrow when i sit down to write some thankyou notes (yes, some of us *ladies* still do that) and do bills, i will totally write a letter to the boston globe for you. and what about the phoenix? i know they dont have a comics page persay, but if ever there was a comic that belongs in the phoenix, it would be DS. I promise to write my letter from scratch with no help from form letters and to spell everything correctly. (except i always have trouble remembering that diesel is i before e...)

I really shouldn't give out form letters, but...

"Dear X,

I am X an X from X. DS is available from United Feature in January. I've read for X(time) on the web and think you should/should not add it to your line up because of X, especially in light of the loss of X.

Yours,

X"

You have many loyal readers here in Ottawa (Ontario, Canada) and I will be writing to both the Ottawa Citizen and the Ottawa Sun as soon as I can find the time to write up a letter and send it off. I will, of course, send you copies of both! Though I suspect both letters would be very similar... ;)
