Professor North also suggested that the results explain why so many people bond over music, and also why some of us are very protective about what we listen to, since it is likely to be profoundly linked to the person we are.


I beieve Prof. North has tenure at the University of DUHHHHHHHHH.

Hmm. I respect that there is science behind this assertion, but the indie rock devotees I know are very hard working. You have to be to lobby for a change in law and create a new radio station.

Heard that on the BBC this morning. Nearly every community of listeners was described with very similar, overly-broad descriptors -- "creative", "open-minded", "confident".

I was struck by how much it sounded like horoscopes. Does anybody ever see themselves as "bland as dust", "bigoted", or "a pool of spineless goo"?

It only says what the unkind types of music are, not the kind ones. I want to listen to music that means I am kind!
