Kind of a Big News Day

I haven't really used LJ for a while, but I've got a ton of stuff going on with my site today so I thought I'd say hi. (hiiiiii)

I took the day to work at home while waiting on some shipping supplies, so here's a ton of new stuff for you:

1.) I've taken Diesel Sweeties ad-free as of today. I've wanted to try running things a little differently do a while. Consider this Experiment #1. I don't know if it's sustainable in the long term, but enjoy it with my compliments.

2.) I'm doing a little spring cleaning Free shipping until Friday on all orders in the USA over $30!

3.) There's a new shirt in the store! It's called "Robot Buddies Gleaming Paragons of Friendship." A nice fellow named James backed a reward in my Kickstarter last year to bring back a favorite t-shirt. We wound up combining and upgrading a Clango and Red Robot design into something I really like. It's black with three metallic inks and only available this week.

4.) I've just posted two more weeks of syndicated Diesel Sweeties comics from my time in newspapers. You can now read from January 22, 2007 through February 4, 2007 in full color for free.

SPX & Orbital Lasers

Just FYI- I'm not going to be at SPX this year. Just taking the fall for other projects and cleaning up after an insane spring & summer. Hope to be back next year.

I will, however, be putting out a little internet minicomic either late tonight or early tomorrow. I'm editing about two months of strips into a story that tells the tale of Suzie shooting Clango with a laser. Long-time readers know the tale, but I think the presentation is a lot cleaner in this form.

Kudos to joltin' Johnny Allison for helping me quickly code it together this week.

I can't stand people who start out in humor and get all SERIOUS as they get older. Like they want to be more IMPORTANT than a comedian.

I daresay there is nothing more important than making people laugh. Except maybe knowing how to field dress long pig in an apocalyptic situation.

Hi there! If you stumbled on this randomly, I draw a webcomic called Diesel Sweeties. Now that we are properly introduced, I need a favor.

I'm going to be on the road again in July with Meredith touring to promote the brand-new Octopus Pie book. I'll be on the southern leg of the trip with comic shop events in NYC, Austin, Los Angeles and San Francisco. (possibly Asheville, NC as well) I'll tell you the specifics as soon as I know for sure.

I need to build a big buffer of comics and scripts before we leave in a couple weeks and I don't like "filler" or re-runs. That's where all of you come in. Let's collaborate!

I need your questions. You can ask me stuff directly or you can ask the characters. Ever wonder who knows who from where? Who lives under what rock? Whatever happened to the Man of Tomorrow?

I'll take the best questions and make comics out of them. Unless you say otherwise, I'll credit you.</p>

Rules:

+ Email me. I'm rstevens@mac.com. Twitter replies, Facebook messages, Livejournal comments and Post-It notes left on my door don't count.

+ Keep it short. Your question needs to fit in a pixelated word balloon! If you couldn't tweet it, I can't fit it.

+ I'll be picking questions based on whether or not I can make a good comic out of them. Going "totally random" is a pretty sure way not to get picked. Stick to PG-13 vocabulary, though creepy concepts are fine.

Yes, this is pretty similar to what Trudeau does in Doonesbury with reader letters. What can I say? I'm a huge fan of the concept.

This will be a one or two week series depending on the quality of the questions. You can write in as many times as you like, but points are deducted for being purposely annoying. You've got until June 30th!

Promo pics just came out for an episode of The Big Bang Theory airing on April 12 and they combine five of my favorite things:

+ Bowling
+ Evil Wil Wheaton
+ Sheldon Cooper
+ T-Shirts
+ More Bowling

In particular, CRUSH ALL HUMANS! and Electric Sheep shirts. This is so dang cool and you have no idea how hard it has been not to blab.

I drew superheroes in front of Next Generation almost every night in middle school and the only sport I participated in was bowling club, so seventh grade me just had a geek heart attack.

Pixel Socks and Invisible Giraffe shirts may also pop up in the episode. I am so finally hooking my TV up properly.

I got my wish granted this morning. Just enough snow to trigger my sleep-a-little-longer gland because I finally caught up on work last night. This is from just before the sun came up.

Now to the office cave! Blizzards lead people to do a lot of online t-shirt and sock shopping and I've got a mailman to wrestle.
